The Deck of Delights

Invitations to bring awareness into your everyday. To notice what’s around you with fresh eyes and to help you feel more wonder and joy.

A delight is something we feel in our body. A warmth or expansion around the heart, a lightness in the chest, a smile or a shiver down your spine. When we open our eyes and set our mind the task of finding them, we discover they are all around us, just waiting to be celebrated and felt. Notice the sensations in your body when you find a delight and they will guide you to find more.

Pick a card and use your psychology to increase your joy. If you’ve ever experienced the frequency illusion (you think of something and suddenly you see it everywhere) these cards work the same way.

Pick a card and go about your day, noticing when you spot something that fits the card you picked. Take a micro-second to really look at what you find and notice what you feel in your body when you do. Does your breathing deepen? Do you get butterflies? Do you find yourself smiling? Allow the delight to land in your body, perhaps bring your hand to your heart and enjoy the cascade of feelings.

We are naturally biased towards the negative. By noticing the delights and registering the gratitude we can begin to fill up our positivity cup.

To increase your joy further, make a note of what you found each day, (or even take a quick snap on your phone) bringing it to mind and notice how when you read back you still get an echo of that warm positive feeling.
